Democrats Are Stupid, Too

Oct. 22 (Bloomberg) -- Even many Republicans agree thatthey lost the battle over the shutdown and the debt ceiling. TheTea Party walked the country to the edge of economic ruin andtheir party to the edge of political catastrophe untilRepublican leaders in Congress flinched. Maneuvering themselvesinto that defeat was an act of insane recklessness byRepublicans and a political gaffe of the first order. Perhapsthey’ll do it again in a few months.
Democrats, though, have little to celebrate -- and I’m nottalking about the shambolic rollout of the health-insuranceexchanges. Republicans saw their approval numbers sink with thedebt-ceiling standoff, but not nearly as badly as you might haveguessed. This should be making Democrats think.
