The notion is alluring. Online fundraising has made it easyto collect large sums in small increments from thousands,hundreds of thousands or even millions of people. Soon,proponents hope, politicians won’t have to go to lobbyists andcorporate bundlers; the Internet will simply disrupt campaignfinance as it has upended so much else.
