Faced with major protests to President Mohamed Mursi’sdecree placing himself above the law, the Muslim Brotherhoodparty is today trying to cram a draft constitution through theconstitutional assembly in a single marathon session. A shotgunconstitution is a terrible way to produce popular legitimacy andeffective democracy.
