May 15 (Bloomberg) -- It’s possible, but unlikely, thatsmall differences in culture alone can explain the greatereconomic success of the U.S. relative to Europe and Japan afterthe introduction of the Internet.
The U.S. has poured investment into innovation since theearly 1990s. It opened trade borders to lower costs, freedresources and relaxed capacity constraints. When besieged bylow-cost unskilled offshore labor, it transitioned quickly frommanufacturing to more productive endeavors that includedinnovation and services that cannot be produced offshore.
