Aug. 26 (Bloomberg) -- Unemployment is high across theU.S., but some states are better than others at creatingjobs. Texas Governor Rick Perry cast a spotlight on thiswhen he entered the presidential race. His fast-growingstate accounts for as much as half of all net U.S. jobssince mid-2009. Texas is part of a broader pattern, fromwhich all states can learn.
Research shows that states keeping costs low forbusiness have enjoyed better job growth during the pastcouple of decades. The low costs appear to be moreimportant than other advantages often associated withhigher spending, including infrastructure and an appealingquality of life.
