Aug. 10 (Bloomberg) -- The death of 30 Americans and eightAfghans in a helicopter crash on Aug. 6 was a sobering reminderof the dangers our troops face in Afghanistan.
Unfortunately, it also led some reporters, talking headsand politicians to jump to unwarranted conclusions: that specialoperations raids are alienating the Afghan population, that thistragedy was evidence that the U.S. troop withdrawal needs to befurther hurried, and that the Taliban are on their way tovictory. Such misguided claims are damaging the already fragilesupport for the war in the U.S.
