The Shopping Frenzy of Black Friday Is Migrating Overseas

The last Friday in November this year is a regular workday in most countries, but that’s not keeping retailers from offering deals. 

Turns out the American tradition of mobbing stores and scouring websites in search of discounts on the day after Thanksgiving has international appeal.

While Black Friday, which usually falls on the fourth Friday of November, is just a regular workday for most of the world, that’s not stopping retailers around the globe from jumping on the bandwagon. November discounting is steadily catching on outside the U.S.—from Colombia to Hungary and Pakistan—as companies use the Black Friday formula to give their sales a year-end boost.
