Trump’s `Project Freedom’ Risks Fueling Fresh Iran Tensions

President Donald Trump’s effort to help stranded ships exit the Strait of Hormuz got off to a confusing start after Iran made clear that it would attack US forces if they entered the chokepoint Tehran controls.

The US denied a report by Iranian media that the country had struck an American naval vessel with missiles. Brent crude jumped to around $114 a barrel as the United Arab Emirates issued a missile threat warning for the first time since a ceasefire between the US and Iran took hold about a month ago. The UAE later said its systems were responding to missiles coming from Iran.
