Hello, this is Jasmine Ng in Singapore, where my colleagues and I were watching over our China coverage while the team took off for Golden Week.

China looks rather convinced it can outlast the US in the trade standoff. Officials have made bolder demands, apparently proposing a massive investment package if President Donald Trump lifts national security restrictions on Chinese firms. Chinese negotiators floated a $1 trillion figure earlier this year, my colleagues in the US found out, though the size of the current offer is unclear.
