This week, I went back to college. Or at least, back to college memories and regrets. (I have more than a few of those…) With so many students heading to campus, it seemed like a good time to ask financial advisers what they wish they’d known about money before they began freshman year.
Their answers surprised me. I was expecting things like, “I wish I’d saved more,” or “I should have gone to a cheaper school.” But many focused less directly on money and instead on the ways people and experiences factor into our financial lives, such as how they formed important relationships — including marriage.
