Big Tech day: Google parent Alphabet’s shares climbed after third-quarter sales beat analyst estimates, helped by the growth of its cloud computing business, which supplies computing power, software and services to other companies. In other tech earnings, chip-maker AMD’s stock price fell after it gave a lackluster forecast, sparking concern that its artificial intelligence sales are growing more slowly than anticipated.
