Canada Rail Resumes, Shifting Concern to Stalled US Port Talks

Canada’s two major railroads aim to restart operations this week, minimizing freight delays and congestion across North America after an independent tribunal ordered a dispute between carriers and union workers into arbitration.

The Canada Industrial Relations Board agreed over the weekend to Labor Minister Steven MacKinnon’s request for arbitration as well as an extension of the workers’ expired contracts and for the railways to resume operations soon.
