Ever since I first learned about the wonders of perpetual calendars—how they keep track of the month, day of the week and date without having to be adjusted, even across leap years—there’s just been a bit more magic in Feb. 29 for me.
This year, on that very day, I happened to run into a friend on the subway whose birthday it was! I thought: Before the next Feb. 29 rolls around, I’ve got to get that guy a perpetual calendar watch and teach him how they work. Imagine the thrill of seeing a beautiful timepiece—something you wear every day—finally turn its date indicator to Feb. 29.
