It's Not Just Spirit. The Aerospace Supply Chain Needs to Be Rewired

Manufacturers are scrambling for solutions to stubborn parts shortages — whether that’s loaning out their own staff, providing financial support or bringing more work in-house.

The first Boeing 737 MAX 7 aircraft sits on the tarmac at its Renton, Washington factory in 2018. Boeing is in talks to buy back the Spirit fuselage business it carved out in 2005. It’s just one example of ways in which aerospace manufacturers are reshuffling a malfunctioning supply chain.
