EU Proposes Curbs on Three Chinese Firms for Aiding Russia
Welcome to the Brussels Edition, Bloomberg’s daily briefing on what matters most in the heart of the European Union.
As the second anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine approaches, the EU is getting closer to taking further action against firms and individuals the bloc says are supporting Moscow’s war effort. This includes proposing new trade restrictions on about two dozen firms, including three based in China and one in India, according to a draft of the proposal we’ve seen. It would mark the first time the EU has imposed restrictions on companies in mainland China since the start of the war and would ban European companies from trading with the listed firms. The measures still need the backing of all EU member states and could change before then.
