Canadian Economy Braces for Second Week of Port Disruption
A strike at Canada’s busiest ports on the Pacific coast has entered its second week, a critical period when the disruptions will start to have a wider impact on the nation’s economy and beyond.
Over the past 10 days, the work stoppage at some 30 maritime hubs in British Columbia — including at the Port of Vancouver and Port of Prince Rupert, the country’s No. 1 and No. 3 largest — already led to a drop in arrivals of container ships, port congestion and diversions to US facilities.
