Like 30 million other people, I am now a user of Mark Zuckerberg’s answer to Elon Musk’s Twitter: Threads. Ginning up that many users since its launch less than 24 hours ago is an undeniably impressive feat. Zuck had an advantage over the other would-be Twitter competitors such as Bluesky and Mastodon, of course. He already has 3 billion users across Meta Platforms Inc.’s other apps. He wasn’t out shopping for new users, just porting them over from Instagram.
