Spotify Cut Staff, Talent to Enter its YouTube Era

After four years and over a billion dollars of investment, the platform is flipping its podcast strategy upside down

Hello, and welcome back to Soundbite. This week was an awful one in the podcast world as Spotify laid off 2% of its staff, or around 200 employees, primarily in its talk-content division. These cuts added to the 600 jobs lost in January and the podcast-specific staff reductions in October. It feels like the end of an era in podcasting and at Spotify.
