As Podcasters Pivot to Video, Independents Don’t Buy the Hype

YouTube is increasingly courting podcasters and building out its offering, but independent production studios say they’re not interested

I’ve increasingly written about YouTube’s growing efforts to court podcasters and bring audio-only purveyors over to video. In February, the company said it would include podcasts on YouTube Music. Last week, it built a dedicated landing page for podcasts on the app, and another podcasting stalwart, Slate, said it would bring its audio programming to the platform, following others, like NPR.
