The Biden administration is seeking a US exemption from the European Union’s carbon border levy as part of negotiations to settle a transatlantic squabble over steel and aluminum tariffs.

The US and the EU are working on a global arrangement on sustainable steel and aluminum (GSA) after both sides agreed to a temporary truce on tariffs that had been imposed by former President Donald Trump.
