Rail Across Russia Remains Key Link for EU Weapons Inputs

Before Russia invaded Ukraine 11 months ago, freight trains looked like an ever-widening route as China boosted its Belt and Road investments so trade flowed more easily to Europe.

But because trains making the two-week journey from China to Germany must pass through one of several tracks through Russia, the war and the sanctions slapped on Russian businesses threatened to disrupt transcontinental commerce.
