Hello, hello. Welcome back to Soundbite. This week we’re talking about New York City’s pay transparency law and Amazon Music’s changes to its Prime tier. As always, I’m at acarman5@bloomberg.net , and if you haven’t yet subscribed to this newsletter, please do so here!

A New York City law went into effect earlier this week requiring employers with four or more workers in the city to provide a “good faith” salary range for open positions. They have to follow a couple rules. They must include a salary minimum and maximum. The range cannot be open-ended. And the employers don't have to list bonuses or other incentives. Employers get a free pass on their first violation, so long as they remedy it within 30 days. But for subsequent failures, they might have to pay civil penalties of up to $250,000.
