Laura Bliss here. I’ve been away for the past few months, working on a podcast about the rise of far-right politics in local government. (It’s called “Bedrock, USA” and is available anywhere you get podcasts.) And now, I’m writing to deliver some bittersweet news: I’m leaving MapLab … for a while!
For the next 10 months, I will be a Knight Science Journalism Fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. That means I’ll be spending a full academic year in Cambridge, Massachusetts, taking classes, doing research, and honing my skills alongside an amazing cohort of reporters and editors from around the world. I’m taking a leave of absence from Bloomberg CityLab to do this.
