Navigator: Seeing Your City From a New Perspective
Little Island Park in Manhattan opened the pandemic.
Photographer: Victor J. Blue/BloombergThree weeks ago, my friend and I seized on a small window of opportunity to take the Amtrak to New York, which until recently, was seeing low community transmission rates of Covid-19. It was my first time back since 2020, and a chance to rediscover the city that I had visited at least once a year in the Before Times.
During long aimless walks, we took in the new additions to the Big Apple, from the impressive decor of various outdoor dining sheds to the immaculate Moynihan Train Hall. After more than two years of seeing mostly empty streets around my apartment, it was exciting to witness the return of a bustling metropolis. (Also a little anxiety-inducing.)
