Ukraine Makes an In-Person Plea to NATO for More Weapons

Welcome to the Brussels Edition, Bloomberg’s daily briefing on what matters most in the heart of the European Union.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba is taking his pleas for more military support straight to the source — coming in person to a NATO foreign ministers meeting in Brussels. NATO will discuss what additional weapons and support it can send Ukraine as Russia pivots toward attacking the east of the country, where NATO expects another major offensive. The ministers will also be joined by Sweden and Finland as talk heats up over possible membership applications. Group of Seven ministers will chat on the sidelines and are likely to discuss expanded sanctions against Russia. Today, the EU aims to approve its fifth round of masures, including a coal-import ban, after resolving technical issues.
