Russia May Be Rethinking Its Ukraine Goals: Weekend Reads

The Russian military’s announcement that it’s focusing on taking full control of Ukraine’s Donbas region after a month-old invasion that’s encountered fierce resistance may signal Moscow is backing away from hopes of taking larger swathes of the country.

President Joe Biden met with U.S. troops in eastern Poland not far from the Ukrainian border on a day when Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov accused Washington and the European Union of trying to “destroy” Russia.

Earlier, the U.S. and EU unveiled an agreement to help Europe wean itself off Russian fuel imports.
