Russian President Vladimir Putin went to Beijing to do more than watch a glitzy Winter Olympics opening ceremony.

Putin also held his first face-to-face meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping in more than two years. It comes as he tests the U.S. and its allies with a massive troop buildup near the Ukrainian border.
