A potential conflict over Ukraine is causing the U.S. to talk to Qatar, one of the world’s biggest gas exporters, in case Russian supplies to Europe are disrupted.

The ruler of Qatar, which provides about 5% of Europe’s natural gas, will meet U.S. President Joe Biden at the White House later on Monday. The two will discuss shoring up flows to Europe, as well as the Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan.
