Bloomberg Wealth: The Debate Over the Best Way to Invest in Stocks

Being a millennial, I've sometimes felt like a double agent while covering the boom in retail trading over the past several months.

On the one hand, I chat with Redditors and Twitter commentators my age and younger who are thrilled by the belief that they're taking on Wall Street. The traders are funny, irreverent and sometimes angry, and — you know what — I get it. In the prime years of our lives, we’ve lived through two recessions and too many lectures about how selfish, clueless and impulsive we are. Oh, and most of us feel like we’ll never be able to retire. Ever.
