Asia’s Surging Exports Show a World Economy Weathering Covid Headwinds

It’s not just traffic through the Suez Canal that’s flowing again. A wave of data across Asia, including March trade figures from South Korea, show that the recovery in global commerce is picking up speed despite the resurgence of Covid-19.

South Korea’s exports gained the most since 2018 — further evidence of the rebound in the world economy. Those figures are among the first sets of trade data to be released each month, offering an early snapshot of the health of trade and the tech sector for which it is a key supplier.
