President Donald Trump’s China policies — measured by his own metrics — didn’t exactly achieve what he promised on the campaign trail in 2016.

Years of tariffs and sanctions in many cases left U.S. companies less competitive, and those operating in China complain about many of the same problems as before Trump took office.
