The Federal Open Markets Committee is all but certain to hold rates unchanged when their decision is announced at 2:00 p.m. Eastern Time. Fed Chairman Jerome Powell will hold a press conference 30 minutes later during which he is expected to reinforce the message that the bank will do whatever it can to support the recovery. While the committee may discuss changes to the bank's forward guidance, a final decision is unlikely today. Powell may also repeat his call for more fiscal help from Congress.
