Lighthizer Victory Lap Shaken by Bolton’s Trade Bombshell

U.S. trade chief Robert Lighthizer probably thought Wednesday would be his victory lap.

In what might have been his final appearance before the Senate and House committees with jurisdiction over trade, he basked in mostly bipartisan praise as he touted President Donald Trump’s agenda and the agreements he brokered with Canada, Mexico, Japan and China even if some of them are initial deals that may never advance to further phases.
