Pandemic Gives WTO Critics in U.S. a New Line of Attack

Washington is giving off some mixed signals about whether it wants to dismantle the World Trade Organization or use it to advance America’s economic interests.

On Wednesday, the U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer said that America has fulfilled its WTO obligations in the decades-long Boeing-Airbus trade dispute and urged the European Union to broker a final deal that “respects the WTO’s findings.”
