Donald Trump seemed to backtrack even as Turkey formally announced the start of a military offensive into northern Syria, saying the U.S. didn't endorse the incursion "and has made it clear to Turkey that this operation is a bad idea." His statement came just days after he said America wouldn't stand in the way. Kurdish forces asked Trump to intervene to stop the attacks, and the EU called upon Turkey to "cease the unilateral military action."
