The U.S. put eight Chinese tech giants on a blacklist for allegedly being implicated in human rights violations against Muslims in Xinjiang. The move came the same day as U.S. and China began working-level trade talks, and amid pressure on U.S. companies to avoid statements or behavior that antagonize China over the issue of Hong Kong.
