Bogotá’s Priciest New Condos Defy Colombia’s Housing Slump

A luxury complex is rising out of a former patchwork of properties in a city where new construction is largely stalled.

The priciest new address in Bogotá, spread across three blocks of planned luxury apartments, office and commercial space, is defying Colombia’s battered real estate sector.

More than 90% of the 202 apartments offered by developer Cimento, including 546-square-meter (5,877-square-foot) penthouses, have been sold three years before construction is set to finish. Remaining units are listed at 24 million pesos ($6,093) per square meter. That's 6 million pesos more than the record set for the most expensive square meter sold in Bogotá last year, and pricier than some upscale apartments in the tony neighborhoods of Mexico City’s Polanco or Rio de Janeiro’s Ipanema.
