As China Spending Falters, Luxury Brands Set Their Sights on Thailand
Christian Dior, Louis Vuitton and Porsche are betting on Bangkok as wealthy Thais and tourists boost spending.
In an upscale neighborhood of Bangkok, near a cluster of luxury shopping malls and five-star hotels, the Christian Dior Gold House shines brighter than most.
With an exterior adorned with one million handmade gold mosaic tiles, the new concept store, which opened last month, was built to evoke the French brand’s Paris headquarters on Avenue Montaigne. After browsing for haute couture, customers can visit the Dior cafe serving sweet dishes devised by Michelin-starred Argentine chef Mauro Colagreco.
