New York’s Nassau County hasn’t supported a GOP presidential candidate since 1988, with the results this year mirroring shifts across the US.

For decades, Democrats have won elections by appealing to suburbs like this one, a well-educated, upscale hamlet in Nassau County, 32 minutes on the Long Island Rail Road express train from Penn Station.
