Hotel Nine Hours collects data that can be used for studies and to flag any issues during slumber.
Capsule hotels, convenient and budget-friendly alternatives to conventional stays that are common to Japan, now come with an additional perk: Evaluating the quality of your sleep.
Hotel Nine Hours, which operates in more than a dozen locations, offers designer-chic sleeping pods with soft lighting, comfortable bedding and a pull-down curtain for privacy equipped with microphones, cameras and body sensors for tracking sleep. While the berths cost ¥3,800 to ¥30,000 ($26 to $203) a night, lodgers can opt for a free sleep analysis by agreeing to share their data for broader studies.
