In a city of skyscrapers, an American expat decided to recreate a New York-style brownstone in Hong Kong after buying and renovating a dilapidated 1970s tenement building.

About 12 years ago, an American lawyer successfully bid for a rundown 1970s Hong Kong tenement building with an aim to transform it into a single luxury home modeled on a Manhattan brownstone that he could live in.
