Covid Maps Reveal Personal Pandemic Landscapes

Using art and mapmaking as an act of expression, readers around the world capture the changing contours of pandemic life.

As the Covid-19 pandemic rolls on, a new collection of homemade maps created by Bloomberg CityLab readers depicts the enduring changes the pandemic has wrought on our physical and mental landscapes.

This is our third showcase of pandemic-inspired cartography. Since our first call-out for maps in April 2020, we’ve received hundreds of submissions from readers across six continents. We published maps documenting the initial wave of coronavirus lockdowns and a batch that examined how 2020 reshaped our landscapes. Our book based on the project, The Quarantine Atlas, includes 65 maps from our readers. Available for pre-order here, it will be published April 19, 2022.
