Is There Room for E-Scooters in New York City?
The largest mobility market in the U.S. is finally getting its first fleet of shared electric scooters. Just don’t expect to see them in Manhattan.
The first batch of rentable electric scooters in New York City look like they were designed with Gotham-sized potholes in mind.
Announced by the micromobility company Lime in November 2020, the new “Gen4” models boast beefier handlebars and wheels, a front suspension, a swappable battery and an overall sturdier presence than the tiny two-wheelers most e-scooter riders are likely to be familiar with.
