Zambia’s staple corn harvest will exceed 4.1 million tons this year, according to the country’s millers association, a second straight record that could help cool inflation but also poses fiscal risks.

The 6% rise from 2025’s final assessment of a 3.87 million ton crop is based on “what we’ve seen in the field,” Andrew Chintala, the lobby group’s president, said on state television Sunday. The government is set to announce the official forecast in coming weeks.
