Uber Boosts Stake in Delivery Hero, Says No Takeover for Now

Photographer: Krisztian Bocsi/BloombergUber Technologies Inc. has increased its stake in German food delivery company Delivery Hero SE, underscoring its ambitions to counter competition from DoorDash Inc. outside the US.
The ride-hailing giant now owns 19.5% of Delivery Hero after acquiring additional shares and instruments, as well as a further 5.6% in options, the German firm said Monday in a statement. That increases Uber’s stake from the 7% it held in April, when it bought €270 million ($318 million) worth of Delivery Hero shares from its biggest holder Prosus NV.
