Pakistan has deployed around 8,000 troops, fighter jets and an air defense system to Saudi Arabia under a mutual defense agreement, Reuters reported Monday citing officials it didn’t name.

The deployment includes about 16 JF-17 fighters, which were sent to Saudi Arabia in early April, two squadrons of drones, and a Chinese HQ-9 air defense system apart from the troops. The equipment is being operated by Pakistani personnel and financed by Saudi Arabia, according to the report.
