Evergrande Liquidators Pursue Claims Against PwC in HK Court
China Evergrande’s liquidators head to court on Monday for the opening hearing of their lawsuit against PricewaterhouseCoopers International Ltd., in a case that will test the scope of claims against auditors of insolvent companies.
The case centers on PwC’s auditing work for Evergrande, which has become an emblem of China’s property crisis since it defaulted in 2021. While it originally focused on PwC’s mainland China and Hong Kong affiliates, liquidators later added PricewaterhouseCoopers International, the umbrella entity for units worldwide, to the lawsuit.
