Source: BloombergGCL Technology Holdings Ltd., a major Chinese producer of polysilicon, is pivoting into battery materials as the solar sector remains mired in overcapacity and losses.
The company has already built capacity to produce 200,000 tons of lithium ion phosphate in southwestern China’s Leshan city, positioning the commodity as a core growth engine for GCL, according to a company filing on Sunday. Incoming pre-orders from customers signal “strong intent and demand” that supports additional capacity expansion, it added.
