Senegal President Signs Electoral Law, Paving Way for Sonko Bid

Senegal’s President Bassirou Diomaye Faye has signed into law an amended electoral code widely seen as paving the way for Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko to contest future presidential elections.

The legislation was approved by the West African country’s parliament after Faye returned an earlier version over a technical issue, before formally promulgating the revised text.
