A pause in Iranian oil shipments from Kharg Island, the nation’s main export hub, is most likely the result of an oil spill in the area, according to TankerTrackers.com, a firm that uses satellite imagery to monitor vessel movements.

There’s been a multi-day pause in the loading of big, ocean-going tankers from the facility in the northern Persian Gulf this week, a hiatus that’s coincided with a US blockade of Iran’s shipping, European satellite imagery shows. TankerTrackers.com co-founder Samir Madani said he’s observed no large-tanker cargo collections on Friday.
